Who can buy PLI
Eligibility has widened over the years to cover employees of central and state government, PSUs, banks, listed companies, and many professionals. Rural residents are served by a separate scheme, Rural Postal Life Insurance (RPLI).
Available plans
The main policies are Whole Life (Suraksha), Endowment (Santosh), Convertible Whole Life (Suvidha), Anticipated Endowment (Sumangal), Joint Life (Yugal Suraksha) and the children’s plan Bal Jeevan Bima.
How maturity is estimated
Maturity value = sum assured + accrued bonus. The bonus is declared each year per ₹1,000 of sum assured; the calculator multiplies your sum assured and term by that bonus rate to estimate the payout.
Scheme rates and limits are revised periodically by the authorities; confirm the current figures on the official portal before investing.
